Forged X-678 chain is rated at 125,000 lb ultimate strength, and forged X-458 at 63,000 lb. Every strand is also proof loaded before it ships.

Heavy carriers need more than strong chain. For this reason, Frost 4 and 6 in I-beam trolleys use forged brackets and full ball complement wheels for heavy loads and harsh conditions.

Questions We Hear
What size conveyor chain carries heavy truck parts?
Heavy carriers usually call for X-458 (4 in pitch) or X-678 (6 in pitch) chain. Forged X-678, for example, is rated at 125,000 lb ultimate strength. Our team can also size the chain to your heaviest carrier.
Does Frost make load bars for heavy carriers?
Yes. Frost makes 3, 4 and 6 in load bars with tube spacers and spherical washers. Frost also makes attachments for hanging carriers from the chain.
Can worn free trolleys be rebuilt?
Often, yes. The Frost free trolley rebuild program replaces worn wheels and parts so the trolley goes back into service.
What is the difference between Smooth Link® and forged chain?
Smooth Link® chain has cold-formed pins that reduce wear and variation in strand length. Forged chain, on the other hand, is made from 8642 alloy steel. Both meet ANSI B29.22 and CEMA 601.
Which trolley fits a 6 in I-beam?
Frost makes 6 in I-beam trolleys for X-458 and X-678 chain. First, measure the I-beam and the trolley drop. Then match both numbers on the trolley drop chart.
Is heavy duty conveyor chain proof tested?
Yes. Every strand of Frost chain is proof loaded before it ships. Proof loads are 10,000 lb for X-348, 20,000 lb for X-458 and 30,000 lb for X-678.
